Some more organic artists.

IDEA!

Could exhibit in a London underground tube station!!!!

I like this idea because it is a place completely devoid of nature - perfect contrast.

New plan.

Since I fell in love with the work of Deb Haugen I am sure that i now want to exhibit organic art. But where and how?
I thought it could be interesting to exhibit a range of organic artists in an industrial place - maybe a worn down factory?! Or a deserted street/city?
This would demonstrate an intriguing juxtaposition perhaps try an communicate the idea of nature having taken over man made areas?

Organic art.

These works are by Deb Haugen and i LOVE them, they are beautiful. The flowing forms, textures and colours definitely say 'organic' to me. She is inspired by the creekbed and horse tracks surrounding her home. The works in this series are "reflections of the strikingly familiar abstractions we see in nature."

Slightly different path..

Thinking of lighting, reminded me of this piece I found when searching for inspiration in the last blog. This is by Ghada Amer and although the sculpture itself is incredible, it is the lighting that makes the image and I love this. I chose it for the last blog because I felt it had a slightly organic look to it just because of the colours used. The organic theme was something I was really interested in but we never proceeded with the idea so perhaps I could use this theme for my individual project?

I love LED..

Another blatant example.. Tracey Emin. It probably helps that I have seen some of her light work in the flesh; this will help me picture it in the space, and to be realistic about it's size etc.

LIGHTS!

I have suddenly become fixed on the idea of using light in this exhibition so here is an obvious light artist who I have always appreciated; James Turrell.

Sung Soo Kim

This artist, SungSoo Kim, is someone i'm looking at to help develop my current practice. He works with styrofoam and recycled glass to form these beautifully coloured sculptures which I adore. I think if they were lit right, these would also look amazing in a low lit room.

To begin.. some works I like.

These are images of works by Yoko Suetsgu which I found when researching artists for the previous group blog. They have stuck in my mind since because I am so interested in the lighting and texture of them. I think they are stunning and would be incredibly effective in an exhibition, particularly if the light is low.
